Nineteen suspects have been arrested and nearly 1,000 tickets have been confiscated¹ by the Beijing railway police since Sept. 1.

In a single case, a total of 578 tickets were hoarded² by one suspect and later confiscated. The suspect had planned to sell the tickets at a higher price to holiday passengers.

 

The campaign launched on Sept. 1 will last 40 days until Oct. 10, during which the police will put train stations and surrounding areas under closer surveillance.

 

Ticket scalping and counterfeiting³ are major problems around public holidays as the demand for tickets is high.
