5月21日夜间到5月22日凌晨，云南大理州漾濞县和青海果洛州玛多县先后发生地震，引发全国关注。

 

Earthquakes that rattled¹ the provinces of Yunnan and Qinghai over the weekend left three people dead and dozens injured. The three deaths were reported in Yunnan.

周末发生在云南和青海省的地震已经导致3人遇难，多人受伤。3名遇难人员均在云南。

 

Four earthquakes over 5.0-magnitude struck the Yangbi Yi autonomous² county in Dali Bai autonomous prefecture of Yunnan from 9 pm to 11 pm on Friday. The tremors³ were felt in all 12 counties and cities of the prefecture, with Yangbi being the worst hit. By 3 pm Saturday, seven people were severely⁴ injured and 25 others had minor⁵ injuries.

5月21日晚9点至11点，云南大理白族自治州漾濞彝族自治县发生5.0级以上地震4次，该州12个县市均有震感，漾濞县受损最严重。截至5月22日下午3点，地震已造成7人重伤，25人轻伤。

 

A few hours later, at 2:04 am Saturday, a 7.4-magnitude quake jolted⁶ Madoi county in the Golog Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Qinghai, in the northwest of the country.The Ministry⁷ of Emergency Management said 11 people had minor injuries.The county is located over 4,000 meters above sea level.

几个小时后，5月22日凌晨2点04分，青海果洛藏族自治州玛多县发生7.4级地震。该地区海拔在4000米以上。应急管理部表示，有11人在地震中受轻伤。

 

China has allocated⁸ 10 million yuan from its central budget for disaster relief to the provinces of Yunnan and Qinghai. The emergency funds, allocated by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management, will be used to aid disaster relief and ensure people's livelihoods⁹ in the affected¹⁰ areas.

财政部、应急管理部向云南和青海省分别紧急预拨中央自然灾害救灾资金1000万元，用于抢险救灾及保障受灾群众基本生活。

 

The National Health Commission on Saturday dispatched medical teams, consisting of surgeons, critical-care experts, and psychologists, to the two regions.

5月22日，国家卫健委向两省派出由外科医生、重症护理专家以及心理医生等组成的医疗卫生组。

 

两处地震没有关联性

 

中国地震台网中心等部门的专家经过会商指出，两次地震地处我国不同断裂带，不做关联性分析。

 

There was no causal relationship between the Yunnan and Qinghai quakes, but they shared the same root cause, Sun Shihong, a researcher at the China Earthquake Networks Center, said. "Both earthquakes were affected by the squeezing of the Indian Ocean plate against the Eurasian plate," Sun said.

中国地震台网中心研究员孙士鋐表示，云南和青海地震没有关联。不过，这两处地震产生的原因相同，都是由于印度板块挤压欧亚板块导致的。
