Chinanews, Chengdu, August 13 – It has been a tradition of every modern Olympic Games hosts to make an official documentary1 of the Games since 1912. Now the shooting of the 22nd documentary, about the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, has started, with Gu Yun, as its director.
Not even many Chinese know Gu Yun actually. She graduated from Beijing Film Academy in 1991, and has worked at CCTV as a documentary director since then. She has directed a documentary about the preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, known as 2001+7. “I dare say I am quite experienced in making Olympic documentaries2, after it took me six years to finish 2001+7” said Gu. The new documentary will last for 2 hours and consist of 6 chapters. “We will make this documentary international with a display of true sportsmanship, rather than focusing on China only,” said Gu. According to Gu, the first scene of the documentary will be shot a the National Stadium, also known as the “Bird’s Nest”, where the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will be held. To many people, the Stadium has even become the symbol of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
