Chinanews, Guangzhou, Dec. 18 – A dragon boat race was held recently in Nanhai, Guangdong Province on Sunday. Forty-two teams from Nanhai, Shunde, Zhongshan and Sanshui participated in the race, with the team from Shunde coming out the winner.

The Zhujiang River Delta¹ is regarded as the cradle of the dragon boat race, and that the recent race attracted 100 thousand people. A team coach told our reporter that the 30-kilometer dragon boat race lasted for 3 hours, to become a dragon boat “Marathon” race.

Mr. Pan, the coach from the winning team, said that they were a professional team that had won many matches in the previous years.

The 200-some participants in the dragon boat race were aged² above 40. More old people than young enjoy watching the race.
