Chinanews, Guangzhou, January 15 – It requires 12 million yuan to ask Liu Xiang, the famous Chinese athlete, to appear in a commercial advertisement after he broke the world record of the 110-m hurdles1 race with 12.88 seconds on July 12, 2006. Obviously, Liu is the Olympic champion with the highest income in China right now.
Being the face of both Nike and Coca Cola, Liu got at least 6.8 million yuan in 2005, and apparently2 they paid him more than that in 2006. Not to mention that , China Post, Shanshan, Kangka Mobile, etc. pay him a total of nearly 20 million yuan every year.
It is estimated that Liu got some 50 million yuan in 2006.
