Director Woody Allen's latest film, "Cafe Society" has been selected to open this year's Cannes Film Festival.

The film stars Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg.

 

It's the tale of a Hollywood newcomer who falls in love and gets swept up in the cafe society that permeated¹ in the United States during the 1920's and 30's.

 

"Cafe Society" also stars Blake Lively, Parker Posey and Steve Carell.

 

It's the 81-year-old Allen's third film to open the festival, after "Hollywood Ending" in 2002 and "Midnight in Paris" in 2011.

 

However, it's not in competition for the Palme D'Or.

 

"Cafe Society" is set to screen in Cannes on May 11th.
