Britain's Got Talent star Faryl Smith and Pope Benedict will compete for a prize at the Classical Brit Awards, which takes place next month. 《英国达人》明星法瑞尔·史密斯与教皇本笃十六世将于下月角逐英国古典音乐奖。 Faryl Smith (l) is the youngest artist to receive a double nomination Smith, 14, is the youngest artist to receive a double nomination and is up for(准备好) the young British performer title, as well as album of the year. Her debut2(初次登台) is shortlisted with Alma Mater's Music From The Vatican, which features the voice of Pope Benedict. The event takes place at the Royal Albert Hall on 13 May. Lifetime achievement Smith faces violinist Jack3 Liebeck and early music ensemble4(全体,合奏) Stile Antico for the best young artist prize. Conductor and music director of the Royal Opera Antonio Pappano, and composer Howard Goodall have also received two nominations5. Pappano is nominated as best male artist against Vasily Petrenko and four-time Classical Brit winner Bryn Terfel. He is also up for the critics' award for Verdi's Messa da Requiem6. As well as competing for the best album title, Goodall is battling for the same title this year against Ludovico Einaudi and Thomas Ades. Romanian soprano(女高音) Angela Gheorghiu, Russian soprano Anna Netrebko and US conductor(乐队指挥) and violinist Marin Alsop, who have all previously7 won female artist of the year, feature in the category again this year. Soprano Kiri Te Kanawa will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony, which is being hosting by Myleene Klass. The show will be broadcast on ITV1 on May 18. 点击收听单词发音
