Chinanews, Beijing, Sept. 6 – The Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee announced on Wednesday that starting from that day, it would solicit1 photos of children with smiling faces on a global range, to be used during the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies.
In order to encourage the public to participate actively2 in the Olympic Games, the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee has decided3 to solicit photos of children's smiling faces as part of the creative ideas for the opening and closing ceremonies. In order to guarantee the idea's originality4 and make sure that it can be presented at the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies with a fresh look, the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee will not disclose how the photos will be displayed for the time being, but will choose an appropriate time to announce its plan about how it will use these photos. The photos that are needed will be the front view of the children's face, either smiling or laughing. The photos should not be displayed or serve any commercial purpose before the opening and closing ceremonies. Although there is no limit set for the age of the children that present their photos, children under the age of 10 are preferable. There is no requirement for the background of the photo, either. Parents can present several different versions of their children's photos; however, they should present no more than five photos for one child. Without damaging the integrity of the smiling faces, the Beijing Organizing Committee might make some slight changes to the photos and their backgrounds so that they will be well suited for the opening and closing ceremonies. After the adaptation is made, the Beijing Organizing Committee will decide which of these photos will be used and how they will be used, said a person working at the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
