In a recent interview with Xinhua, Pierre Lescure, said a new model is being built within Chinese film making, and it will grow further as new companies are investing in production, and there will be more Chinese films proposed each year at Cannes.

 

He added that the creation of cinemas in China is amazing, which according to him would boost the cinema production over the globe, adding fast-growing new technologies and encourage young filmmakers to produce more. 

 

Lescure is the former head of the private TV channel Canal+, he was elected unanimously as president of the festival in 2014, replacing Gilles Jacob.

 

The 68th Cannes Film Festival came to an end over the weekend with French director Jacques Audiard winning the top prize, the Palme d'Or, for his movie "Dheepan."
