U.S. endurance athlete Jason Lester has become the first solo athlete to run the entire length of the Great Wall of China.
美国耐力型运动员杰森·莱斯特成为首位单独跑完中国长城全部里程的运动员。
The runner started his mission at the western end Jiayu Pass in northwest China's Gansu Province in August and ran more than 4,000 km along the wall, one of the most famous and recognizable structures in the world, to raise
awareness1 of the fight against childhood
malnutrition2.
Lester finished the run in 83 days, an average daily
trek3 of more than a marathon a day over
rugged4 terrain5.
"It's been a long journey, 83 days, day after day, running a marathon a day, definitely puts a
toll6 on your body," he said.
An ultra-endurance athlete, author and winner of the 2009
ESPY7 "Best Male Athlete with a Disability" Award, Lester lost his right arm in a car accident when he was 12 years old.
